Nepal Earthquake

The world is small. Sometimes even smaller than we think and then there is this notion of the global village. If we look closely where our everyday products have their origin, we notice that even Kathmandu is around the corner.

Die Welt ist klein. Manchmal kleiner als wir denken. Da gibt es den Begriff vom globalen Dorf. Wenn wir nachschauen,  wo manches Produkt seinen Ursprung hat, dann stellen wir fest,  dass Kathmandu um die Ecke liegt.

The beautiful, new and clean design of our blog actually comes from Nepal, created by Theme Grill and Sanjip Shah. Immediately after the devastating earthquake from a few days ago, his home page was difficult to reach but it seems that the connection is now more stable.

The Theme Grill team fortunately survived the earthquake but the building where their office is located in was severely damaged. I guess it will take quite some time until activities will resume their usual course again. While our friends are doing well comparatively, the situation elsewhere in the country is indescribable: Nepal and Kathmandu will need help for years to come.

Das schöne, neue, cleane Design unseres Blogs kommt aus Nepal. Erdacht von Theme Grill und Sanjip Shah. Kurz nach dem verheerenden Erdbeben war seine Page schwer zu erreichen;  mittlerweile ist die Verbindung stabiler und schneller.

Das Team von Theme Grill hat das Erdbeben unbeschadet überstanden; das Gebäude,  indem sich das Büro befindet,  ist beschädigt. Bis die Aktivitäten wieder ihren gewohnten Ablauf haben, wird es einige Zeit dauern. Unsere Freunde haben es noch vergleichsweise gut, die Situation vor Ort ist unbeschreiblich. Nepal und Kathmandu werden auf Jahre hinaus Hilfe brauchen.

In a village, people help each other. When a catastrophe hits people stand up for each other, regardless of origin or religion (despite what some fanatics around the globe would have us believe). This blog writes about luxury topics such as cars. Keeps politics out… usually. Today it calls for aid for Kathmandu, our friends in the global village. There, silence would be a mistake.

Sanjip Shah published a link to a local charity, which I believe to be transparent and trustworthy in its work to provide local help. Include any amount and any help. Donations are easy and secure through PayPal.

As I said, the world is a small village. Our neighbors need help. We have the money, we are many, and we can make a real difference!

In einem Dorf hilft man sich gegenseitig. Wenn es zu Katastrophen kommt,  steht man füreinander ein. Egal,  welcher Herkunft oder Religion. Und egal,  was uns manche Fanatiker rund um den Globus glauben machen wollen. Der Blog schreibt über Luxusthemen wie Autos. Hält sich aus Politik raus… normalerweise. Heute geht es um Hilfe für Kathmandu, unsere Freunde im globalen Dorf. Da wäre Schweigen ein Fehler.
